Port St. Lucie residents are rolling into a new chapter after the opening of the city’s first outdoor public roller and inline skating rink at Whispering Pines Park! What started as a grassroots idea from local skaters became a reality in 2025 thanks to community passion and persistence.
The newly resurfaced Skate City originally opened in 1999 and closed in 2010 before being transformed for a new generation of skaters. Covering 39,000 square feet, the rink is now open daily and free for the public to enjoy.
City leaders and residents worked together to bring the once-closed space back to life, creating an active and inclusive place for all ages. The project highlights how community voices can help shape fun new amenities in Port St. Lucie.
