✈️ St. Lucie County is planning to expand the footprint of Treasure Coast International Airport by adding a new hotel on airport grounds. Officials say the project is part of a broader effort to help attract commercial airline service to the region. The county expects to release a formal Request for Proposals (RFP) within the next three months.
🏨 After proposals are submitted, the review and approval process could take six to nine months. Officials are focused on selecting the right location because some airport land funded by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) must be reserved strictly for aviation purposes. However, the airport sits on nearly 4,000 acres, giving the county room for additional development.
